A small size English Saltglaze stoneware Littler's Blue Teapot and cover, circa 1750
Dimensions: 3 1/2" H x 5 1/2" W
Condition: hairlines and rim chips; tip of spout restored
Literature: Although, the method of using an all-over dip of cobalt blue was used by other manufacturers it was first attributed to William Littler of Longton Hall. You can see examples of blue slip made at Longton Hall in "English Saltglazed Earthenware by Chas Luxmoore, Plate 38"; and minus the oil-gilding an almost similar pot to the one picture here in the center of the plate.
